Transfer case never got oil after a friend put his cruiser back together, it lasted about 500 miles. Everything internally is gone, all the gears are pitted and shearing, the shaft shown here that c onnects to the drivelines, spins independent of the gears meaning it tore apart internally.
Im guessing the bearing finally gave way, got stuck in a gear, forced the dri vetrain to a halt but the wheels kept spinning which snapped the shaft away from the drive gear.
Intern ally the T-c ase is full of metal dust and shavings.

Of course. That’s what I keep doing, over and again.
Well, relying on mechanics. I just keep paying, over and again.

The TC can be fixed but the real problem here is the fr ont bezel is upside down.

I used to really REALLY like the Clubman. Now I just like the Clubman from afar while dreaming of a first gen Cooper S.
